We are pleased to announce that The Rose & Crown Inn at Upper Farringdon near Alton is under new ownership. It is a lovely building with a L shaped bar and restaurant area.It also has an extensive lawned area with views over the countryside. Offering excellent food prepared from as much local produce as possible along with good wines and locally produced beers from the Tripple FFF Brewery.

Brief History:

The Rose & Crown is believed to have been built as an ale house in 1810 by Edward Knight the brother of Jane Austen. Edward was Jane Austen’s third eldest brother, as a boy he was adopted by the Knight family who were wealthy relatives of the Austen family. The pub is just over a two mile walk from Jane Austen’s House in Chawton.
